I will use data collection tools as a teacher to review the classrooms behavior and a students academic performance. For 11th grade American History class, I will give surveys at the end of each month or after each exam to ask how the students felt and how I could better prepare them for the next one. I can also use a data collection to know how the classroom is behaving and if there need to be a reassessment of polices. American history is very important and I wish for the students to be able to understand and convey the information they are taught.

My experiences with distance learning in k-12 education was a positive one. Once Covid-19 began to spread my sophomore year of high school, I learned how to use many different softwares and become more responsible to finish my work. I had to use zoom or Microsoft teams every day in order to be in class and able to get my notes for that day. I do not think there is an experience I have not went though since half of my high school career was online. Open educational resources are available to the public and be accessed at any time. An example of an OER is Khan Academy which is a website designed for K-12 students to use. There are multiple subjects and lessons to choose from to expand a students knowledge. This is free to the public and does not need an access link. This website can also be used for teachers to help them use different examples in their lesson plans. https://www.khanacademy.org/ 

  Some skills I have acquired from working on the Web Design Assignment is learning how to navigate powerpoint. Personally, I do not use powerpoint much so it was nice to look at all the transitions, animations, and how to make smart art. I used the design principles to look at where I should place pictures and texts to where it is engaging and easy to read. It is often hard to stay focused on a powerpoint, so it is important to use design principles to get students to listen. I disliked the hyperlink and voiceover, as I feel that was the hardest part to achieve. I will use these factors in the future to help me make a powerpoint for my class

     I believe class pages are beneficial for both students and parents to be able to keep up with what is going on in the classroom. Some information that is provided is the assignments being assigned, class schedules, where announcements are posted and class resources. Having this available to the public with a login can also help parents or guardians feel more involved in the students life and keep them on track. Being able to see how to contact the teacher and important announcements will help create a smooth relationship between the student, teacher, and parent. https://www.hunterschools.org/class-pages      Working on assignment 2 using Canvas group was easier than expected. Since this is an online class, it can be hard to get in contact with the group members. Thankfully, my group was very active and all cooperated in finishing their specific parts of the assignment on time. I do not have any complaints about the Canvas group tool. 

     After participating in this weeks portfolio item, I believe AI is a beneficial tool to use in the classroom. Generative AI helped me create my lesson plan and fix any errors I might have had. ChatGPT can make a lesson plan more clear and understandable for a student. I would consider using generative AI tools to help me create a productive lesson plan.       Including Generative AI into multiple areas of teaching can be beneficial for a teacher to feel more accomplished and get more work done. ChatGPT can help create exam questions or homework assignments for students if the teacher is out of ideas. The ethical concern I would have is whether students will use generative AI as a tool for cheating instead of for studying purposes. For teachers, they might rely on generative AI to get their work done and it may not be accurate or exactly what they covered in class.
